24th Season Celebrates New Voices, New Works, and the Continuing Vitality of Contemporary Music

NEW YORK, NY — September 24, 2026 — The New York Composers Circle (NYCC) is pleased to announce its 2026–2027 Concert Season, marking the organization’s 24th season of presenting new music by living composers. With this season, NYCC continues its longstanding commitment to the creation, performance, and appreciation of contemporary music with a series of concerts featuring works by NYCC composer members performed by distinguished guest artists and ensembles.

The 2026–2027 season features six concerts showcasing 46 works by 31 NYCC composer members. Over 40 of these works will receive their World, U.S. or New York Premiere performances.

Among the season’s highlights will be a performance of Luca Pasquini’s Sospira for string quartet, unanimous winner of NYCC's 19th-annual John Eaton Memorial Competition. The competition’s two runners-up — Kolten Heeren for his Scherzo for string trio and Whitney Sheng for her Foxfire for solo alto flute — also join the NYCC roster with complimentary one-year memberships in recognition of their fine work.

The new season will introduce NYCC's audiences to works by five composers who have recently joined the group: Matt Krane, Alon Nechushtan, Clovis Nicolas, Karl Schultz and Emilia Tamburri. Also featured will be works by honorary composer members Richard Brooks and Robert Paterson, the most recent members to receive this honor.

“New York Composers Circle is a unique organization, doing work like no other to maintain the vitality of musical art in New York City,” said David Mecionis, Artistic Director of NYCC. “Each concert season takes shape even while some of the pieces are still being composed. New music doesn't get much more 'new' than this.”

The 2026–2027 concert season follows a productive 23rd season in which NYCC presented five concerts featuring works by 30 composer members, including 21 World Premieres, seven New York Premieres, and three U.S. Premieres.
