Announcing the Winner of the 15th John Eaton Memorial Competition

Tuesday, August 2, 2022 11:06 AM

We were very fortunate to have many fine works to choose from this year, making the task of selecting one that stood out more difficult. However, we are happy to announce the winning selection of the 15th John Eaton Memorial Competition is Moments Sweep Past for soprano, cello, and piano by composer Patrick Andrew Thompson (pictured at left). We are also happy to award honorable mentions to Matīss Čudars for his work Drive for solo piano, and to Jeremy Gill for his Quartet for Oboe and Strings.

The winning work will receive a performance on a concert during the upcoming season (TBA), which is the 20th Anniversary Concert Season of NYCC, and all three composers will receive a complimentary one-year membership in the New York Composers Circle.

Congratulations to all of the composers who submitted to our contest this year on your exellent works, and especially to our winner and honorable mentions. We look forward to the performance of Mr. Thompson’s work. Stay tuned for next year’s 16th John Eaton Memorial Competition to be announced sometime in January 2023.
